Brother of man stabbed to death in Valencia wants justice
The brother of Kern Charles, who was stabbed to death in Valencia on August 17, says he wants justice for his brother as he "did not deserve to go like that."
Charles, 35, of Quare Road, Valencia, was found dead on Saturday morning.
Police were told around 12.30 am, a 55-year-old woman found his body while walking home along Pear Drive, Valencia.
Police said Charles was found bleeding from his nose and mouth. A district medical officer pronounced him dead and later found a stab wound to the left side of his neck.
A senior police source from the Homicide Bureau said two men were arrested in connection with Charles's death.
In an emotional interview with the media at the Forensic Science Centre, St James on Monday, Kenrick Charles said he spoke to his brother on August 17, just hours before he died.
Charles said his brother told him he had $25,000 in cash on him and was going to lime with his common-law wife and her two sons.
"I said, 'You know your scene and be careful.'"
Charles said his brother, the woman and her sons "had a few (drinks)."
Asked if he thought robbery was the motive for the murder, he said, "I ain't taking that (as a possible cause)."
He said his brother never complained of being threatened or having problems at home.
Struggling to finish his sentence, Charles described his brother as a hard worker, who did a lot of odd jobs. He explained the $25,000 came from a contract for which his brother had been paid hours before his death.
He said everyone knew his brother as a quiet and non-violent person.
"He don't lash out at people. If you do him something, he'll just laugh it out and he'll go about his business."
He said he just wants justice for his brother.
Police investigations are still ongoing.
