A 27-YEAR-OLD MAN from Maraval has been charged with the murder of his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend, who was beaten and knocked down along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Debe.

On August 16, Trevist Nicholas was charged with the murder of Keifer Wilson of Caratal Road, Gasparillo, on the instructions of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal.

A police statement on August 17 said Nicholas is expected to appear virtually at the South Criminal High Court on August 19.

The police said that around 10 pm on August 13, Wilson and a male companion were in a car on the southbound lane of the highway.

The car was near the Debe roundabout when another car collided with theirs.

After the collision, there was an argument and Wilson was beaten with a spanner.

Fearing for their lives, Wilson and her male friend tried to run. But the accused allegedly drove after them, ultimately running over Wilson and killing her.

Highway Patrol and Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers later held Wilson and handed him over to police at the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three.

W/Cpl Rajkumar laid the charge.
