Rethink that 'A,' Mr Young

THE EDITOR: How could anyone in their right mind give this government an "A?" Understandably, it comes from Energy Minister Stuart Young, but this reeks of audacity.

I wonder if this MP, who was recently acting as Prime Minister, still thinks he is the acting PM.

Of course for him all is well: he is surrounded by security, he has public officials waiting on him hand and foot. Wherever he goes all roads, bridges and water supply are good and his salary and benefits are all in order. When he goes to Venezuela he is not digging in the bin for a meal.

But I'm asking him to rethink his "A." I am asking Young to take note of the number of people homeless and begging in droves.

I am asking him to open a newspaper and see how people are dying at the hands of criminals, how they live in fear of extortion and home invasion.

I ask him to go into communities just south of the Caroni Bridge to see the squalor and deprivation we live in. I am ask him to see how people are dumping rubbish, rubble, derelict vehicles to the chagrin of residents.

I ask Young to really rethink that "A."
