3 men, 1 teen charged with robbery, larceny in separate incidents

FOUR suspects involved in three separate robbery and larceny cases have been arrested and charged.

In a release on August 15, police said on August 6, around 5.40 am, three suspects forcibly entered a house at Union Village, Claxton Bay, where they assaulted the occupants and stole items.

One suspect had a knife and hit a victim on the head, demanding money and jewellery.

The suspects then ransacked the house, taking $6,000 in cash and valuables – electronics, alcohol, sneakers and school bags.

The release said investigations by police from the Southern CID led to the arrest of a 21-year-old, Zion Williams, a fisherman from Picos Avenue, St Margaret. Williams was charged with robbery with aggravation and robbery with violence.

Police are still looking for the other two suspects.

In another incident, on August 11, a man was driving a silver Nissan Navara around 4 am, when two armed men confronted him in Boodoo Trace, Warden Road, Point Fortin.

They hit the man several times, robbed him of the Navara, valued at $390,000 and drove off.

The release said police from the Central Division Task Force and other Highway Patrol Units, with the assistance of Tactical Air Support, intercepted the Navara on the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Caroni.

The detained a teenager from New Village, Point Fortin and Keron Logie, 33, of Andrews Street, La Brea and New Village, Point Fortin. The teen and Logie were jointly charged with robbery with aggravation and robbery with violence.

Police said they got a report of a housebreaking and larceny that took place on March 1 at Bernard Julien Circular Road, Tarouba.

Police investigation linked Cevan Hernandez, 25, from Tarouba to the crime.

On August 12, Hernandez was arrested. He was charged the next day. On August 14, he was granted bail with surety of $25,000.

The matter was transferred to the San Fernando 1st Magistrates' Court, with the next hearing scheduled for September 13.
