They were reportedly last seen travelling in a black Nissan Navarro along the southbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of Gasparillo.
A Facebook post by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) said, "At about midday, we launched a search to check the highway verges from Gasparillo to Penal. At about 2.37 pm, we observed a black van overturned on its hood lying at bottom of the Cipero River which crosses the highway."
The HSRT said its personnel descended into the river and called to see if anyone was inside the vehicle.
"There was no response. The crushed cabin of the van was filled with water. Two lifeless bodies were observed in the van."
The bodies were removed from the vehicle..
Efforts to pull the vehicle out of the river caused a pile up of traffic along the northbound lane of the highway.
Several people came out of their vehicles and stood along the side of the highway as the crushed van was pulled out of the river
The HSRT extended its condolences to the families Teeluckdharry and Ramnanan.
