THE Caribbean women's sprinters will be well-represented in the women's 100-metre semifinals at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on August 3.

Jamaica sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, 37, is in the semifinals after clocking a fast 10.92 seconds in the heats on August 2. Fraser-Pryce is one of the greatest women's sprinters in history, having won eight Olympic medals.

St Lucian Julien Alfred, 23, is in search of her country's first-ever Olympic medal. She finished the heats with the fifth-fastest time of 10.95.

Fraser-Pryce will be joined by her fellow Jamaicans Tia Clayton and Shashalee Forbes in the semifinals after clocking 11.00 and 11.19 respectively. TT's Leah Bertrand, 22, competing in her first Olympics, has qualified for the semifinals also with a time of 11.27.

The Caribbean women will have to be at their best as the rest of the field has quality with the likes of American Sha'carri Richardson, Great Britain's Daryll Neita and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Ivory Coast in the mix.

The semifinals will take place on August 3 at 1.50 pm, TT time. The final will run later that day at 3.20 pm.
