Trinidad and Tobago attorney listed among ICC counsel assistants

TRINIDADIAN attorney Yves Jacques Nicholson has been included in the list of assistants to counsel at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Nicholson was informed of his inclusion on July 26, having met the qualifications necessary for those eligible to be chosen by defence counsel or legal representative of victims to assist them in proceedings before the court.

His inclusion followed a thorough assessment of his qualifications by the registrar of the ICC.

He holds multiple degrees, in English language and communication, an MSc in international trade and logistics from Oxford Brookes University, an LLB and a bar practice training course (BPTC) from BPP Law School and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

He was admitted to practise law in TT in 2018 and is a consultant for the UN Refugee Agency. He currently practises at Veritas Chambers, headed by Darrell Allahar, focusing on criminal and administrative law.

Commenting on his inclusion, Nicholson said, “Being included in the list of assistants to counsel at the ICC is a significant professional achievement.

“This recognition reflects years of dedicated legal practice and a commitment to high standards in the field of law. “I look forward to contributing to the work of the ICC and supporting the defence and victims' representatives.”
