TRINIDAD and Tobago lost a close low-scoring match against Barbados in round two of the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 50-Over Championships on July 24 at Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown.

Batting first, the TT batsmen again struggled just as they did in round one when they were all out for 108.

TT were reduced to 92/8 in the 28th over and were in danger of not posting 100 runs. Andrew Rambaran, the only TT batsman showing consistency, showed resilience. Rambaran found an able partner in Aaidan Racha as the pair added 55 runs for the ninth-wicket.

Rambaran did the bulk of the scoring until he was dismissed for 69 off 83 balls (four fours, three sixes) with the score on 147.

Racha continued to show fight, ending on 14 not out. Barbados were still in the driver's seat at the halfway stage as TT were all out for 161 in 47.3 overs.

Saurav Worrell was the chief destroyer for the Barbadians, grabbing 4/23 in nine overs. Joshua Davis scored 26 for TT in the first half of the innings.

In response, it was not smooth sailing for the Bajans as they were reduced to 95/5 after 25 overs.

Captain Nathan Sealy and Preston Clarke put the chase back on track with a 52-run partnership before the former fell for 41 off 68.

One more wicket fell, but Clarke ended on a patient 15 not out off 48 deliveries to steer Barbados to 162/7 in 43.2 overs to win by three wickets.

Spinner Aneal Rooplal was the best bowler for TT with 3/24 in ten overs and pacer Racha picked up 2/28 in 6.2 overs.

Round three will be played on July 26.
