Jereem Richards sprints to 200m Swiss gold
SPRINTER Jereem Richards jetted to men’s 200m gold at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern event in Switzerland on July 16.
Richards, who is preparing for the Paris Olympics, clocked a time of 20.19 seconds to top the seven-man field.
Zimbabwean Makanakaishe Charamba held on to silver in 20.42s while Ugandan Tarsis Gracious Orogot claimed bronze in 20.50s.
Richards was the only Trinidad and Tobago athlete at this event. Over 200m, this was Richards’ second fastest time for the year as he clocked a nippy 20.13s in a golden finish at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica on June 1. Richards is one of 17 athletes selected for the Paris Games which comprises a total of ten men and seven women in three sports; athletics, cycling and swimming.
