UTT cops 2 awards at carbon capture workshop

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) has copped two notable awards at the week-long Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) summer school programme, hosted by the International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas (IEAGHG) research and development programme, in Darwin, Australia.

In a release, UTT said it was represented by Dr Dillon Ramsook, assistant professor of process engineering programmes and Kavita Gunness, master's student in energy systems engineering at CCS from June 23-29. The two were among 45 participants from 30 countries, selected from over 250 global applicants.

Dr Ramsook was recognised as one of two outstanding students and received an accolade for being part of the best group.

He was recognised for his exemplary performance, leadership skills and co-ordination among the teams throughout the event. His best group award came from being part of a team which focused on comparing direct air CCS and bio-energy with CCS.

"The insights gained will help Dr Ramsook enhance the CCS curriculum at UTT, ensuring that the next generation of engineers are well prepared to promote and apply CCS for Trinidad and Tobago’s sustainable, low carbon future,” the release said.
