Police are treating the death of Keon Forde, who died after fights with two relatives, as a suspected homicide pending the result of an autopsy.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, Forde, 30, of Clifton Street, Port of Spain, went to the bedroom of an elderly male relative and began to bang on the door,

The relative opened the door and Forde attacked him, grabbed him by the throat and began to choke him.

A 15-year-old who was in the house at the time ran to get help for the pensioner. He returned shortly after with another relative, who, on seeing Forde assaulting the elderly man, tried to subdue him.

Forde then turned his attention to the other relative and the two began to fight.

Forde eventually walked out of the apartment and asked for a glass of water, which he drank before collapsing. There were no marks of violence on his body.

A district medical officer pronounced him dead and ordered his body removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James for an autopsy.
