Love Movement to present The Greatest Gift
The Love Movement celebrates its 51st anniversary at Queen’s Hall, St Ann's with a series of concerts entitled Love – The Greatest Gift featuring The Lights of Love Children’s Choir, The Republic Bank Love Movement Youth Outreach Group and The Senior Choir from November 3-5.
The Love Movement’s Ministry of Love began in 1972 when Bernadette Laughlin-Scott founder and musical director recognising a social need decided to use her God-given musical talents to raise funds for the less fortunate while spreading the gospel message of God’s unconditional love, a media release said.
The Love Movement is a registered charitable organisation and has long outgrown the conventional confines of a choir to become a truly unique organisation with a life-changing mentoring programme among Trinidad and Tobago's at-risk youth, the release said.
The concert will begin with the entire cast setting the mood for an evening of music and entertainment, filled with messages of love, hope and joy to "Heal Hearts and Change Lives one Note at a Time" – which is The Love Movement’s Mission, the release said.
The Lights of Love Children’s Choir will perform a medley of songs from popular Disney musicals. The Senior Choir will transport everyone to the 70’s era with the much loved music of that time, while the Youth Outreach Group will continue the journey back in times with the much loved and missed music of the 60s performing a medley with a twist. The offerings will include Born to be Wild, Teenager In Love, All You Need Is Love and may other golden oldies.
The Love Movement’s Steel Ensemble, Love Tones, comprising parents and family members of The Love Movement, under the direction of ace pannist Clive Telemaque will add its special touch to the evening.
The many faces of Christmas will be seen in a variety of old and new Christmas songs both contemporary and spiritual. All three choirs will be a part of this section of the programme.
Scott will once again be ably supported by her drama director of over 35 years, Dr Helmer Hilwig, and assistant producer Gerard Barnes. Sound and lighting design will be handled by Franklyn Aggarat and Celia Wells. In-house choreographers Anneisha Skerritt-Wells, Janelle Spencer-Lewis, Stephanie Carrington, Jade Jones and Cyan Jones will be joined by Candace Ho Wong and Heather Henderson-Gordon. Set designs are by Lisa Bhajan.
Tickets are $350 and $250 for special reserved and $175 for open seating. Some tickets will be available online at https://queenshalltt.com/events/month/2023-11/
