Disgusted by Kamla's speech

THE EDITOR: As a loyal UNC supporter I admit to being shocked, disappointed and disgusted by the speech on Monday in Chaguanas by UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

While the entire country is gripped by the escalation of serious crime and we all agree that the Minister of National Security is inept and incapable, there is no excuse for her reckless and inflammatory language.

"Light them up" and "empty the clip" is language more in keeping with inmates, hooligans and gangsters, not from a woman who was a former PM and head of the National Security Council.

When our children see our leaders and exemplars behaving and speaking in this manner, how do we expect them to act among their peers?

Little wonder discipline in the school system is at an all-time low.

This provocative and emotive behaviour is sure to agitate the population and encourage further controversy and disquiet before the local government elections and is not befitting of anyone aiming to return as prime minister of TT.

For this irresponsible and thoughtless behaviour, Persad-Bissessar and the UNC have lost my vote.
