Banks boost security efforts for customers

The Bankers Association of TT (BATT) has strengthened its co-ordination effort among all banks by broadening its interaction with the police and its partnership with Crime Stoppers TT Ltd.
This partnership, BATT said in a release, is meant to mitigate and/or manage incidents of criminal activity against its clients after they have visited its members' branches or ATMs.
BATT said on Thursday it acknowledged the increased risk clients encounter before and after they visit its branches and ATMs. It added that the hike in criminal activity is of much concern.
“We would like to assure our clients that their safety remains a primary concern of BATT and while we encourage clients to make greater use of our non-cash service options, we are committed to doing what we can to provide a safe environment for clients who choose to avail of our cash services,” the release said.
It also reminded clients to remain alert, pay close attention to their immediate environs when approaching and leaving banks, and to notify the bank and police right away if any suspicious activity or individuals are noticed.
