Bright future for culture creatives
THE EDITOR: Trinidad and Tobago is the epicentre for cultural creativity and indulgence, and the recent Tobago carnival easily proves this. This government remains cognisant in observing the need for building festivals intended for international appeal.
Such festivals add to the offerings of the islands for both locals and tourists. The benefits of tourism are multifarious and culminate in the enhancement and enrichment of life. This is why rethinking tourism is critical to drive our post-pandemic economic recovery especially in the non-energy sector.
As such, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts and stakeholders must continue to be paragons of hope, salubrity and puissance.
The concept of destination marketing captures the very essence of appeal for even business tourism to flourish. We are the ones to increase much-needed interest in the hope of preserving our most precious and endogenous resources.
Thus, continually restoring our cultural and natural heritage to be more aesthetically pleasing, especially to the international market, is vital if we are to advance our economic recovery.
There is always the need for targeted investments notwithstanding, raising levels of green investment in tourism, not just in hotels, but particularly in infrastructure projects to ensure greater sustainability.
More so, emerging markets afford us the opportunities for economic growth and institutional innovations to stay afloat. It is key to synergistically maintain partnerships for thorough engagement in intra-Caribbean tourism and international relations.
