Venezuelan man beats Cuban woman in Aranguez
Police detained a 37-year-old man who allegedly assaulted a Cuban woman and her five-month-old daughter in Aranguez early on Monday morning.
The man is now at the San Juan Police Station assisting with investigations into the incident.
The woman is being treated at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Centre.
Police said at about 2 am neighbours of the woman heard a commotion at her apartment on Satar Street, Aranguez and called the police.
When police responded they were told the man was drunk and had beaten the woman. He also threatened to stab the child with a knife.
The police wrestled the child away from him and subdued him.
The girl is said to be in good health, with a few bruises.
