Police find Uzi, ammunition at Vance River

South Western Division police found a loaded Uzi submachine gun in an unsecured garage near the savannah at Vance River, on the outskirts of Point Fortin.

Acting on information received on Saturday, police went to the village where they searched and found a silver Uzi with a magazine containing six rounds of 7.62 ammunition.

The illegal items were in a black plastic bag under a chair in the garage, a release from police on Sunday said.

PC Bowen of the Guapo police station seized the items. No one has been arrested.

Snr Supt Brandon-John, Supt Ramesar, ASPs Ramdeen and Ramdeo co-ordinated the exercise which acting Insp Ali and Cpl Boodhai supervised.

Police are calling on anyone with information on the owner or about the weapon to report it the nearest police station.
