THE Central Super League (CSL) committee collaborated with mayor of Chaguana Faaiq Mohammed, to make Christmas brighter for children and residents in Charlieville as hundreds of toys and gift bags were distributed on Dec 13.

The CSL has been hosting tournaments, at the Pierre Road Recreation Ground, in Charlieville, for years and residents come out in droves to support.

President of the CSL Rayad Emrit said the committee has always tried to give back to the community. He was grateful that a successful toy drive was achieved despite the current economic climate.

“This year again we were fortunate despite the circumstances with the pandemic that has hit the country. I think we still did our part and we sacrificed a lot to make sure that the kids were happy and (we) put a smile on their faces. As long as the CSL committee continues to grow we will try to spread our wings as far as we can and continue to put smiles on a lot of people’s faces.”

Emrit, who is a TT Red Force cricketer and former West Indies player, has a goal to bring more joy in the future.

“We trying next year hopefully if things change to do it a lot bigger and better…and hopefully we can continue to make a difference in the community.”

Secretary of the CSL and organiser of the event Bryan Charles said, “Preparation went well this year, seeing that we did it a bit earlier this year to avoid all the Christmas rush and to avoid all the crowds during the covid19 pandemic. We at the CSL always try to do our best to give back to the Charlieville community, first and foremost, as it’s where we’re based.”

Charles, who is also a TT Red Force cricketer, added, “Special thanks to the Mayor Faaiq Mohammed on collaborating with us and ensuring that it was sanctioned and turned out to be a success,”

Rita’s Liquor Mart and Acculife Med Ltd Pharmacy also helped.
