Six children got early Christmas gifts of tablets on Saturday from members of the Oropune Elders, in Piarco.

At a brief ceremony at Building 3A, in Oropune Gardens, Camille Knights, the daughter of founder of the group, said the donations will help develop the children of the community.

She said her father Anthony "One Foot" Knights started the group in 2014 as a non-profit organisation.

St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen was also present at the event.

She lamented the inability to provide proper internet access for children across the country for them to complete research for online assignments.

"Most children in Trinidad have access to internet but the quality may not be what you need to really all that you are required to do for your school work,” she said.
