Siparia man appears in court for murder of ex-wife
ELECTRICIAN SUNIL Dookie has appeared before a Siparia magistrate charged with the murder of his ex-wife Reshma Kanchan.
On Monday afternoon Dookie, 36, of Siparia, was taken virtually before magistrate Eden Stroude to answer to the charge.
The charge was that he murdered Kanchan on September 29 at Laltoo Trace, Penal.
Kanchan, the mother of two, was chopped to death.
The charge was laid indictably and Dookie was not called upon to plead.
Kanchan was ambushed and murdered while she was on her way to work as a part-time URP worker at a nearby primary school. She was attacked with a cutlass.
The accused was found with self-inflicted injuries to his neck and smoking a cigarette. He was treated at the San Fernando General Hospital and discharged last week.
Dookie was charged by PC Lal of the Homicide Region Three after instructions from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore-Paul.
