Three charged after Rio Claro home invasion
Three suspects were charged on Tuesday with a range of offences after a home invasion in Rio Claro.
A release said the charges stemmed from a robbery in Rio Claro last Wednesday.
Kirby Pamphille, 35, of Vistabella, and Kwassi Allen, 32, of New Grant, were jointly charged with burglary and four counts of robbery with violence.
The third suspect, Ian Ellis, 49, of Felicity, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana. He was expected to appear virtually at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The release said on September 23, four armed men entered a home in Rio Claro and announced a hold-up. They tied up all four occupants of the home, physically assaulted two and demanded money.
The suspects allegedly stole a Beretta pistol, two 12-gauge shotguns, ammunition, phones, an electronic tablet, a large quantity of jewellery, alcohol and cash.
Police recovered several of the stolen items, including the Phantom 12-gauge shotgun, but are continuing enquiries.
Ag Cpl Dwarika of the Mayaro CID laid the charges against Pamphille and Allen and PC Mahabir of the Rio Claro CID laid charges against Ellis.
Snr Supt Aguilal,ASP Jankee and Sgt Bhim led investigations, which included members of the Mayaro CID and Task Force, the Rio Claro CID and other arms of the police service.
