Tobagonian charged for beating girlfriend with TV, cutlass

Fisherman Rion Woods, 28, of Parlatuvier Main Road, Parlatuvier appeared before the Scarborough magistrate virtual court on Tuesday charged for grievous bodily harm and being armed with a weapon.

According to police, on December 3, 2019 Woods and his girlfriend were at his home when they had an argument. Woods allegedly hit the woman on her back with a television and struck her repeatedly with a cutlass.

Woods was granted $100,000 bail under two conditions: he must stay away from the victim and report to the Moriah Police Station fortnightly. He will reappear in court on July 7.
