OWTU donates PPE to Scarborough hospital
The Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) has donated two sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Scarborough General Hospital.
On Tuesday, an OWTU team, led by executive vice president Marcus Cordner, made the presentation at the Accident and Emergency department.
Cordner said, “We of the OWTU recognise the importance of the frontline workers and we stand resolute with the government and the members of the nation in the fight against covid19. We therefore found it necessary to do our small but meaningful part in providing this donation of intubators, facemasks and other items critical to the fighting of this dreadful virus that now plagues us.”
Medical Chief of Staff Dr Victor Wheeler accepted the items.
“We are thankful for this donation from the OWTU. It would assist greatly in protecting the staff when they perform their duties,” he said,
The donation included two intubators, a quantity of hand sanitisers, goggles and face visors.
After the handover, Accident and Emergency consultants Dr Ian Sammy and Dr Jean Richards and head nurse Joanne Solomon demonstrated how to use the intubator.
