Mighty Trini, Gypsy in Calypso Fiesta

FORTY of this country's top calpsonians, including chairman of the National Carnival Commission (NCC) Winston "Gypsy" Peters, have made the cut for the national calypso semi-finals, commonly referred to as Calypso Fiesta, set for next Saturday at Skinner Park in San Fernando.

A release from the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) yesterday stated that the show will start at midday on time and slated to sing in position number 40, is NCC chairman Gypsy whose offering this year is When Elephants Fight. Also making a return to competitive calypso, after some years out, is Robert Elias, The Mighty Trini of "Curry Tabanca" and "Sailing" fame, who will be singing, "101 Percent." The two reserve singers are Shirlane Hendrickson and Myron Bruce. The following is the full list.
