CoP promotes 7 ACPs
SEVEN officers who were acting as assistant commissioners of police (ACP) were all confirmed in the position on Friday by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith.
The six men and one woman were promoted one day after they were assessed and is the first promotional duty done by Griffith since he took up office, last Monday.
In a media release, Griffith admonished those promoted to be the catalyst for change and said they now have an “enormous responsibility”.
The promotion to the rank of ACP is the highest promotion that a commissioner can give and the rank is two tiers below the rank of police commissioner. Griffith told the officers they had earned their promotions, based on the assessment carried out.
He added that promotion has an impact on morale and motivation, which has a domino effect on performance.
The rank of deputy commissioner of police has to be confirmed by Parliament when it resumes next month. The only confirmed DCP is Stephen Williams. Acting DCPs Harold Philip, Deodat Dulalchan and Erla Christopher congratulated the officers after they were presented with their letters of promotion. The seven ACPs in order of merit were Vincel Edwards; Garfield Moore; Ansley Garrick; Harrikrishen Baldeo; Irwin Hackshaw; Leroy Brebnor and Sharon Blake-Clarke.
