Mixed puppy at husky price

THE EDITOR: I’d like to warn anyone considering buying a dog, even from pet stores, to be cautious.

We purchased a pup from a pet store in Port of Spain believing the dealers were reputable and could be trusted. We thought we had purchased a husky.

However we soon discovered that the dog was mixed, although the price was for a husky.

Having anonymously spoken with the owners on Facebook, they said all their dogs are purebred and have papers to certify this, which is untrue.

We’ve tried on numerous occasions to get pictures of the pup’s parents.

We’ve been treated with disrespect and arrogance by the owners who refuse to provide us with information.

Having taken the pup to the vet, we have discovered that he has a retained testicle or cryptorchidism.

One of the causes of this is inbreeding.

He will require surgery or he can develop a tumour as he grows older.

Please beware, there are many fraudsters our there just using these animals and going to all lengths to ensure they maintain the blue-eye trait of the husky because, as I was told by the owner, that’s what people look for.
