Stop children from gambling

THE EDITOR: With the growing gambling industry that has mushroomed all over TT, everyone seems to be getting into the action, including our children.

Yes, that is what I said. Children are now making their way into these places. This is not hearsay but a known fact. Why? Because the slot machines etc are being set up everywhere in the cities, towns and shops. They are either there or on their way.

What are we really doing? Are we creating a nation of gamblers?

If our children are involved in gambling at young ages, what will be their future? We are all aware of the effects of this habit. I am making a plea to all authorities to look into to the prevalence of children in these places of gambling, because the proprietors of these establishments do not care as long as they get the money. Are there not laws that prohibit this type of thing? Please implement.

At the end of the day, we adults are responsible for guiding the children of the nation. Parents, please do some monitoring. We are on Christmas vacation and children are looking for things to do. Let us act now before it is too late.
