The body of escaped prisoner Unil Phillip, 47, was found floating near platform 14 of Trinmar’s North Field this morning shortly before 5 am. Workers on deck saw something resembling a body and notified the Coast Guard, who collected the body.

The body, which appeared to have only one arm, was taken to the Forensic Science Centre, where an autopsy is expected to be done tomorrow.

Newsday spoke to Prisons Commissioner Gerard Wilson, who said he heard reports of a body being found, but could not confirm, at that time, whether it was Phillip. Last week, Phillip escaped from the Carrera maximum security island prison off the northwestern peninsula, after overpowering a guard and scaling a fence.
