NZ shows up WI weakness

THE EDITOR: West Indies failed once more in the second Test against New Zealand, beaten by 240 runs with a day to spare. We were outplayed in every department.

There are some quite obvious things that our boys need to work on. First of all, every batsmen needs to be coached to deal with the short ball and also those that swing. New Zealand’s fast bowlers showed up these shortcomings time and again. If that is not dealt with other teams will exploit these weaknesses and the results will be the same.

The batsmen must understand that in Test cricket time must be spent at the crease. They must be patient and just remain there — the runs will come.
