Checking out scenes in TT

THE EDITOR: As one who has torn up 67 calendars, I have lived through six decades of politics and am tempted to say that under the colonialists things were better organised.

That is the narrative I am hearing each day.

What I am seeing going on in my so-called sweet TT is enough to lose hope.

I have already come to the conclusion that God is alive but he is not “ah Trini.” I don’t subscribe to that dotishness.

However, when I look around the various landscapes I see total chaos.

Allow me to deal with three — politics, crime and economics, in that order:

1. I have long recognised that politicians are into mamaguy, the furtherance of their political parties with an eye on the Treasury. I will stop here for now.

2. I have long recognised that with all the best efforts of the police, I have to defend my life by any means necessary. Law enforcement officers, before going on the frontlines each day, kiss their wife and children goodbye to face all types of situations while the nation sleeps. I say no more on that.

3. High prices is a runaway horse yet the Government cannot catch it.

Greed is covering the land as we see people trying to “jook out” each other’s eyes, which will lead to a nation of blind people. I say no more.
