We deserve more respect Rowley

THE EDITOR: It was reported in yesterday’s print media that the Prime Minister was questioned about the rioting along along the Priority Bus Route and the Beetham Highway yesterday. The question was posed before the opening of the Point Lisas Business Park in Couva.

According to the report, in response to the query, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said, “Where are you standing? In Couva, well don’t ask me about Beetham. I am here to talk about Couva.”

Maybe other commentators would seek to articulate, discuss and engage in a discourse on this response, which many may interpret as being dismissive, flippant and perhaps politically arrogant.

Not me. I simply wanted to ask another hypothetical question.

And that is, if the Prime Minister succeeds in making his trip to China next year, and if he is asked to comment on matters related to the state of the economy, crime, inflation, weak (or fake) output in the energy sector and investment possibilities in Trinidad and Tobago, would he say, “Where are you standing? In Beijing, well don’t ask me about Trinidad and Tobago. I am here to talk about China”
