Ex-Pupils sweep CHIPS U-21 netball tournament

Mucurapo Ex-Pupils dominated the CHIPS Under-21 Tournament, winning both the round-robin series and knockout titles.
On Saturday, the Ex-Pupils completed their victory in the round-robin series, turning back a determined SPIHC 34-21 at the Eastern Regional Indoor Arena, Tacarigua.
Led by goal-shoot Chelsea Delecia with 24 goals, goal-attack Natasha Vialva six and Sukurah Morgan four, Ex-Pupils led 7-6 at the end of the opening quarter. SPIHC rallied strongly to knot up the scores at 12-12 at the halftime interval, only to let the game slip away.
For the SPIHC girls, goal-shoot Sidoney Duncan scored 16 goals and Jourdan McLeod five.
CHIPS won a thriller for third place honours, edging Horizon 20-19 after trailing 13-12 and 17-15 at the second and three-quarter stages. CHIPS led 8-7 in the first period.
Goal-attack Shannon Duncan scored 19 goals for the winners and Makeda Byer added the other, while Kareena Lewis got 11 goals and Aziza Sandy eight for Horizon.
Ex-Pupils’ Thema Moses was named Player of the Turnament which ended on Sunday, and she also took the prize as Best Defender.
Her teammate Chelsea Delecia was named Best Shooter, but CHIPS’ Kimberly Bascombe took the prize for being Best Centre Court player.
The Most Valuable Player of each team were... Shannon Duncan (CHIPS), Faith Hagley (Horizon), Thema Moses (Mucurapo Ex-Pupils), and Meaghan-Nichole Lessey (SPIHC).
