30 Spanish-speaking women arrested at Penal bar

Thirty foreign women were held for questioning by police at a bar in Penal during an early-morning raid on Sunday.

Police said, at about 2 am they went to J’s Bar at SS Erin Road, Penal where the women were found in the bar area.

The police team included Insp John, Sgts Ali and Victor of the South-Western Division, Criminal Investigation Department and K-9 Unit.

The women were escorted into a police bus and taken to the Immigration office in San Fernando for further questioning. Up to late yesterday, they remained in custody.

Police also found a loaded gun nearby.
