Flood distribution
Several corporate citizens, organised by the San Fernando-based Spice Boys Foundation, embarked yesterday on a massive flood relief drive through the communities of Penal, Barrackpore and Woodland which were among the hardest hit by floods last week.
A convoy of approximately 60 vehicles consisting of trucks, vans and motor cars, assembled at Twin Walls, South Trunk Road, La Romaine - a scheduled drop off point for relief items, to begin the distribution effort. Interviewed yesterday, Rishi Maharaj said the group had partnered with the Navara Club, Coca Cola, Dasani, Medford Grill and other corporate citizens to provide relief to the affected residents.
He said they had put together approximately 200 to 300 hampers as well as water, mattresses, foodstuff, cleaning agents, disinfectant mops, brooms and buckets.
