Tobago/North win in TT Under-19 cricket trials
TOBAGO/NORTH defeated East/North East by six wickets when the TT Cricket Board Under-19 50-Over trials continued at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva, on Tuesday.
Batting first, East/North East posted 183 all out in 40 overs. Shazad Mohammed top scored with 37 and Giovanni Gajadhar pitched in with 28. Bowling for Tobago/North, Matthew Gittens grabbed 3/31 in six overs and Joshua Davis snatched 2/30 in six overs.
In response, Tobago/North got to 184/4 in 46.1 overs to complete the victory. Kyle Ramdoo led the run chase with 46. After Ramdoo fell Tobago/North were 119/4 in the 34th over, before Nicholas Elliot and Orlando James put on an unbroken partnership of 65. Elliot ended on 42 not out and James struck 33 not out.
The trials are being held in preparation for the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup scheduled to be held in the Caribbean next year. The regional Under-19 tournament this year has been cancelled because of the pandemic. Cricket West Indies has asked that the territories arrange matches in an effort to find the top players in the region.
On Thursday, South East/South will play Central/ South West at NCC.
