PNM selects 11 THA candidates; Jacob made to wait
The political future of Secretary of Settlements, Urban Renewal and Public Utilities Clarence Jacob hangs in the balance, as the PNM Tobago Council’s screening committee is yet to select a candidate for the Canaan/Bon Accord electoral district in the upcoming THA election.
The screening of nominees for the election was held on Sunday and Monday at the PNM’s campaign office at Pump Mill, Scarborough.
At a news conference on Tuesday, PNM political leader Tracy Davidson-Celestine, who also chairs the screening committee, said the party had already selected 11 candidates for the election.
But the committee is yet to decide on the Canaan/Bon Accord electoral district which Jacob currently represents.
“In terms of the Canaan/Bon Accord electoral district, that is still under consideration at this time,” she told reporters.
“The screening committee has not yet come to a final decision and so within the next 24 hours or so, we will be haggling over who is the best candidate to represent. And we will communicate to the members of the public in very short order.”
Davidson-Celestine gave the reason for the delay.
“There are matters we are taking into consideration and so after we have deliberated, the information will be communicated to the members of the public.”
