Princes Town man, 65, dies after crashing car in San Fernando

A 65-year-old man from Princes Town died after the car he was driving crashed into a parked vehicle in San Fernando on the afternoon of March 23.

Lochan Seeraj from Fairfield Housing Development later died at San Fernando General Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

According to the police, officers responded to a report of an accident on Dr Leroy Calliste Street (formerly Lord Street) near a car park.

Seeraj was driving a white AD wagon at the time.

Initial investigations revealed that the wagon veered off the road and collided with a parked car. A male occupant was in the parked car but did not sustain any injuries.

When police and EHS personnel arrived on the scene, they found Seeraj slumped in the driver’s seat of the wagon.

He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His body was removed to the hospital's mortuary for autopsy which is expected to be done later this week to determine the cause of death.

Police are unsure as to what caused the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
