Police said at around 1.30 am on March 22, the victim, a 42-year-old man from Main Road, Tabaquite, parked and secured his burgundy Kia Cerato, valued at $55,000, along Bertrand Street, San Fernando, near Foreplay Bar, before going inside the bar.
While inside, he checked for his car keys and discovered they were missing. Around 2.30 am, he checked the area where he had parked his car, only to find that the car was also missing.
The police were alerted, and acting Cpl Isaac and PC Ramsaroop of the Mon Repos CID, who were on mobile patrol, along with officers from the San Fernando CID, received information and went to the northbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Harmony Hall Overpass.
There, they saw the stolen car crashed on the side of the highway.
Together with officers from the Highway Patrol Unit, the police approached the car and saw the suspect getting out of the driver's seat and quickly walking away.
