Three men robbed after responding to Facebook ad
Three men from Santa Flora were robbed of almost $50,000 in TT and US currency when they went to Morvant in response to a Facebook Market Place post advertising a Nissan Tiida for sale.
Around 11.30 am on January 20, the victims went to a supermarket along the Eastern Main Road, Morvant where they had agreed to meet the seller.
When they arrived, the seller called them and told them to meet him instead at Upper Ninth Avenue Barataria.
When the men arrived there, three men approached them, two of whom were armed.
The suspects announced a robbery and ordered the victims to come out of the car and lie face-down on the road.
They beat one of the victims before stealing $31,300 and US$2,500 in cash, a Samsung S23 Ultra phone valued at $9,000, a Samsung A13 phone worth $2,000, a Samsung A04 cellphone worth $1,100 and a Samsung A13 cellphone valued at $800.
The three suspects then ran north along Ninth Avenue and escaped.
PC Douglas of the Morvant Police Station is continuing enquiries.
