Teens, 19 and 15, in court on kidnapping, robbery charges
Two teenagers have appeared before a High Court master charged with the kidnapping and robbery of a 60 year old Princes Town man last week.
Justin Tannis, 19, and the 15-year-old appeared before Master Rhea Libert on January 22.
Tannis was unrepresented while the younger teen was represented by Krysan Rambert.
Tannis was remanded into custody while the 15-year-old was granted $20,000 bail.
Libert transferred the matter to the Children’s Court to determine the issue of jurisdiction before a scheduling order could be made.
According to police reports on January 16, the victim, a labourer, was parked along Malgretoute Road, Princes Town, at 2 am, when he was approached by two suspects who announced a robbery. The victim was ordered out of his motor vehicle and the two took his phone and wallet.
The victim was allegedly ordered to go to the trunk of his Nissan B14 where he was beaten with a gun butt to his head and was locked in the trunk.
He was dropped off at a bushy area along Subrattie Trace, Barrackpore, while the suspects drove off with the car.
