The Consular Corps of TT held its annual general meeting on December 4 at the Furness House, Port of Spain, where it elected its new executive committee for the 2024-2025 term.

The appointed officers include William A Ferreira, honorary consul for Portugal, dean; Om Lalla, honorary consul for Slovenia, as secretary; and Troy Garcia, honorary consul general for Finland, as treasurer.

A media release on December 9 said the incoming executive has pledged to strengthen relationships within the consular corps as well as with public- and private-sector agencies to facilitate deeper collaboration and promote international co-operation.

The Consular Corps of TT represents a network of diplomats and honorary consuls from various nations. Their role is to foster diplomatic, economic and cultural links between TT and the countries they represent.

Ferreira, who previously served as dean from 2022-2023, brings extensive leadership experience to the role.
