Maraval man charged with murdering ex-girlfriend in Debe, denied bail
TREVIST Nicholas, the 27-year-old man charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Debe, has faced a master in the High Court.
Nicholas, of Maraval, appeared before master Shabiki Cazabon at the South Criminal High Court on August 19 and was not called upon to plead, as murders are indictable matters.
The master denied bail and remanded him into police custody.
The case was adjourned to July 23, 2025.
Nicholas' ex-girlfriend, Keifer Wilson, 27, of Caratal Road in Gasparillo, was beaten with a spanner and knocked down on the highway on August 13 around 10 pm.
The police contend that Wilson and a male companion were in a car on the southbound lane near the Debe roundabout when another car collided with theirs.
After the collision, there was an argument and Wilson was beaten with a spanner. Fearing for their lives, she and her male friend tried to run.
But the accused allegedly drove after them, ultimately running over Wilson and killing her.
Highway Patrol and Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers later held Wilson and handed him over to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three.
W/Cpl Rajkumar laid the charge after consulting with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal.
