Playwrights Workshop to read Lies and Deception on August 7

The August instalment of the Playwrights Workshop Trinbago (PWT) Monthly Readers Theatre Series (MRTS), held the first Wednesday of every month, will feature the reading of a new play, Lies and Deception by Christopher A Sheppard.

The reading will take place on August 7 at 7 pm online via Zoom only.

Lies and Deception highlights the life of a man who in his teen years did something which would follow him into his later years. The circumstances leading to his leaving Trinidad will be revealed as the story unfolds.

Sheppard is a dedicated dancer, choreographer, leather artist-designer, and actor, who enhances the landscape and captivates audiences worldwide. He is a versatile artist with a career spanning over 50 years. His choreographic journey includes teaching and performing with several performing companies: Movements Dance Company; Edmonton Canada; Mandela Dance Company; Venezuela; Israel Lovelle Dance Company; Barbados; Hummingbirds Dance Company and the La Chapelle Dance Company Trinidad.

He was the choreographer for the Saint Lucia 25th Independence anniversary, Dr Shirlene Holmes and Rhoma Spencer’s Carnival Medea, and the recently concluded, Calypso Rose Musical: Queen of the Road.

PWT is inviting actors, playwrights, directors, producers and the general public to join via Zoom to listen to the cold reading and participate in the discussion to assist the playwright with the further development of the script.
