Trinidad and Tobago Under-21 netballers win twice at World Cup qualifiers

The Trinidad and Tobago Under-21 netballers won their opening two matches on July 9 at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 qualifying tournament, which is being held in Guadeloupe.

TT are playing in Pool B alongside Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, St Maarten and Guadeloupe. Pool A features regional powerhouse Jamaica, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Cayman Islands and Canada.

TT eased past St Maarten in their opener on Tuesday morning 62-23. Maikea Bramble and Shaniya Morgan led the way for TT. Bramble converted 28 of 32 attempts and Morgan netted 25 of 32 shots.

TT also crushed home team Guadeloupe 106-4 on July 9. Again, it was the Morgan and Bramble show.

Morgan top scored this time with 52 and Bramble bagged 44.

TT will need to finish in the top three of the qualifying tournament to book a place at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 in Gibraltar.

TT are being coached by national senior player Kalifa McCollin-Lopez and captained by Destiny Williams.

After press time on July 10, TT played Antigua and Barbuda.

The junior Calypso Girls are expected to get their toughest test of the group stage against Barbados at 7 pm on July 11. The knock-out phase begins on July 13.
