A Sangre Grande man was expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday to face a charge of murder, a police media release said.

Police said Dennis Rajnarinesingh of 91 1/2 Sand Road, Sangre Grande, was charged for the murder of Kevin Trotman on September 23.

He was arrested on Tuesday and charged last Friday after homicide investigators received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Trotman, 70, was found dead at his Eastern Main Road, Sangre Chiquito, home.

Police suspect the death was the result of a robbery, as the entire house was ransacked and electronics and household items were missing.

They also believed that Trotman was attacked in his bedroom by his killer and tried to escape, but fell and died in his living room.
