Thank you, US Embassy

THE EDITOR: I have been going to the US Embassy in Port of Spain for over a decade, trying to obtain a non-immigrant US Visa. I have attended over ten appointments, for over ten years, only to be told each time that I will not be issued a visa today.

To be honest, I had long given up, but each time I did, my family would say, "try again one last time" or, "don't give up just yet," and for whatever reasons I couldn't quite comprehend, I would take their advice.

Ten years' worth of advice, still no US Visa. Last month, my family again encouraged me to try again for another "last time" and it was the first time in all these long years and all these appointments, at the US Embassy, that I walked out of there and actually cried. I wish to publicly say to the interviewing office, "thank you, thank you, thank you!"
