PRESIDENT of Cricket West Indies Ricky Skerritt was presented with a number of gifts at a Queen's Park Cricket Club luncheon at Jaffa Restaurant in St Clair on Thursday, including two copies of the book History of West Indies Cricket through Calypsoes.

Skerritt received the NAGICO-sponsored book from author and researcher Nasser Khan. The book traces West Indies cricket through the lyrics of some 215 calypsoes between 1926 and 2016. Copies of the book have been given to all schools, public libraries, the National Archives, and tertiary-level institutions throughout TT and Caribbean countries where Nagico does business.

The book includes a photo of Skerritt with the 2000 West Indies team, which he managed on their tour to England. Brian Lara was a member of that team, which was captained by current West Indies director of cricket Jimmy Adams and also included Wavell Hinds, current West Indies Players Association head and current coaches Corey Collymore and Ramnaresh Sarwan.

At the function Skerritt outlined his ten-point plan to take the regional team back to the top and announced that the team will revert to being called West Indies rather than Windies.

Skerritt was also presented with a framed copy of the first minutes of the inaugural West Indies Cricket Board’s minutes by Queen's Park president Ken Gordon, an original document that has been preserved by the club’s museum curator Stephen Almandoz.
