9 Venezuelans arrested

Exercises in the South Western, Northern, and North Western divisions on Thursday yielded a total of six firearms, and quantities of ammunition and narcotics.

Twelve people were arrested in connection with the crimes. Among the people arrested were nine Venezuelans.

According to a TTPS release on Friday, nine Venezuelans were arrested and two revolvers, a pistol and a quantity of assorted ammunition were seized by South Western Division police.

Around 2.15 pm on Thursday, police under the co-ordination of Supt Robert Phillip, including officers of the Penal CID, went to a house on St James Crescent, La Romain and executed a search warrant. Police found a Walther pistol loaded with .40 mm ammunition, a Ruger revolver, with .38 mm ammunition, a Rossi revolver with four rounds of .38 mm ammunition, an extended magazine, 266 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and six rounds of .40 mm ammunition.

The nine Venezuelans, ranging from 21 to 46, were in the house and were arrested.

In the North Eastern Division, police executed search warrants in Mt Lambert, Aranguez and Morvant and recovered 107 grammes of marijuana, a revolver loaded with.38 ammunition, and a .22 pistol. Three people were arrested.

In the Northern Division, a pistol and a quantity of ammunition were found.
