Max was a true patriot

THE EDITOR: My family and I express our deepest condolences to one of our greatest icons and sons of the soil, former president George Maxwell Richards.

I have known him for the past 40 years. I met him many times at Divali and Phagwa celebrations and other cultural activities. I was once a security officer at his private residence, when he was principal of the UWI St Augustine campus.

He was a gentleman, a true patriot. He was a man of passion, a man for all seasons. He loved his Carnival. He never missed his Carnival.

Once again I pay tribute to him. Rest in peace, pres.
