Isaac’s mother bans media from funeral

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with robbery with violence arising from last Thursday’s robbery in which a 15-year-old boy was shot dead by police. He is expected to appear in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court today .

Sgt Ifill, of the Marabella police station, who spearheaded the investigations charged the youth with shooting with intent, robbery with aggravation and possession of a firearm.

His friend Isaac Simmons, a form three student of Carapichaima West Secondary School, was killed. PC Anand Ram, 27, was shot in the lower abdomen and, up to yesterday, was still at the San Fernando general hospital.

An autopsy was conducted on Simmons’ body yesterday at the Forensic Sciences Centre.

His mother Shenelle Rock yesterday refused to tell reporters when the funeral will take place. She said media coverage of her son’s funeral will not be permitted.
